I am going to forgo reading the 20+ likely pages in response to the blog and just respond with my own thoughts instead of fanning the flames. There are enough trolls around here. CCP Zulu thank you for posting the blog update. I had my reservations at first and to be honest I had a suspicion of the "extremist view" approach as this is a common practice used in things as basic as debate classes. I am sure that some people in here who either participated in debate or were stand ins from say acting/drama, can vouch and speak as such. It makes sense to use it as a way for a corporation to hash out ideas and concepts. I would have pursued the same internal approach towards the discussion. Clearly the problem that happened here was that document came to light without the proper context. Unfortunately NO ONE can speak for the masses here as we are all individuals and as always the loudest are heard the most regardless of how intelligible it is. I think what may put many players concerns to rest was the standpoint presented by Soundwave as the extremist in favor to be explained some more. EVE is the only game I know of that has a fully functioning realistic market that is player driven. I mean think about it, some of those brokers caught for causing market bubble collapses in the US were caught because they were practicing PONZI schemes on here, and I wouldn't be surprised if Bernie Madoff was a former subscriber himself. When Soundwave's opinions came to light, your player base ripped these forums a new one. While I don't care about apparel, the idea of buying Ships, Ammo, Mods, and SOV even, would collapse the entirety of the EVE Market. At this point I think was a catalyst concerning the MT system. If true, it would make BPO's useless, miners UTTERLY useless, and would remove the effectiveness of over half your player base. For that reason, I think it is exactly what will not happen. The "leaked" papers being extremist point of views for the sole point of getting all the arguments out at once being just simply that. I think what happened here was a collision between a multitude of MINOR bugs, idealistic views, and one debate class project taken in the wrong context. For those who think this is a REASONABLE assumption please post your agreement. It is CCP's creation that we play, I don't give a damn if we pay for it as I enjoy their service. However CCP's future vision for EVE will NEVER suit everyone's tastes.
